01.09.2025.Film “Black Wool” at the Liburnia Film Festival
The documentary film Black Wool by Mara Prpić, about our documentary theatre play of the same name, will be screened at the Liburnia Film Festival! After last year’s premiere at the Igralke Festival and a screening at Rijeka’s Art-kino, we invite you to Opatija on 28 August 28 at 5 PM at Villa Antonio, where the film will be shown as part of the “Regionale” program, which brings together works by filmmakers from our region.
Black Wool is our documentary theatre play, created in 2022 in collaboration with members of the Oaza Association for Homeless and Socially Vulnerable Persons from Rijeka, director Olja Lozica, and musician Damir Urban. In it, four protagonists — with whom we created and perform the play — speak about their experiences of homelessness.
We performed the play for two years, until the living conditions of our actors disrupted our plans in the harsh ways only life on the margins of society can. Fortunately, filmmaker Mara Prpić (1.618 Films) followed us on a guest performance in Osijek, where our troupe presented the play at the National Meeting on Homelessness. The film documents the creative process, the performances, and their achievements, extending the life of the play and sharing stories that no longer wish to remain in the dark.
In 2023, the play was nominated for the “Baščovjek” Award for Humanism in Theatre.
